A Ranch Dedicated to Raising the Best Bison
As first-generation ranchers, we established YR Bison Ranch in 2005 with only eight bison. Having limited livestock experience, it has taken us many years to understand this majestic animal and the challenges that come with operating a successful ranching operation. Our love for bison has had us growing our herd size and land base for many years and we now operate a cow/calf to farm gate sales operation, grow all of our own forage and market our wide range of products. Our vast base of loyal customers has been generated over the years and continues to expand.
As a first-generation family business, we take great pride in watching our sons grow with the ranch, which now spreads over several tracts of land in two separate counties, Red Deer and Wetaskiwin. Our on-site store, located only 8 miles from Red Deer, offers our customers a wide range of bison products and a chance to see the bison roaming the fields. We are very proud to have hosted visitors from other countries, including a tour group of Austrian ranchers, and are very passionate to help the bison industry continue to grow. With focus on the future to sustainable farming, we strive to continuously improve the genetics of our bison herds. We are strong believers that healthy soil leads to healthy bison!
